Start of The New Season Begins

Now that the whole TEAM has taken some well deserved time off after a long season, it is now time to start some early racing. Today Maria and Lauren competed in the USA National 1-Hour Championships. Both went into the race with open minds and no real big expectations. They were just hoping to give a good effort since they have only been doing base work and no speed at all.

A lot of America's top women came out today to see who could walk the furthest in an hour. The gun went off and Teresa pushed the pace from th beginning. Maria went out in her own pace and was very conservative walking 1:57-1:58 per lap. She held a good pace of 24:36 for 5km's and then started to have stomach issues and slowed slightly to a great 49:15 split for 10km's. Maria finished in a strong 2nd place covering 12,163m's in an hour with Teresa finishing in 1st in 12,813m's. Lauren was next for the TEAM and she had some company with Loretta McGovern and Erin Talcott forming a little group. They stayed together for most of the race but as the race came close to an end, Erin fell off first and then Lauren with Loretta prevailing to come 3rd in 11,597m's. TEAM member Lauren finished 4th in her best performance over an hour at this time of the season in 11,436m's. Both women did a great job!

Next up for the TEAM we will have Maria competing at the USA 30km Championships on October 31st in New York.

Stay tuned!
