I know, I know, we have been terrible at updating the blog. We sincerely apologize! SO here is a quick recap of everything that has happened in the last few months. We promise to try and keep this up to date leading up to the Olympics. So here it goes!

In March, one of our promising junior's, Molly Joseph, had the biggest race of her high school career at the New York State High School Indoor Track and Field Championships. There are a lot of upcoming girls in New York State and so Molly had some tough competition but she pulled through and won the race by a lean in a time of 7:04.08. It was such a great start to the big season ahead.
Next up on April 1st was the USA World Racewalk Cup Trials in Eugene, Oregon. The whole TEAM was looking forward to this race as a good opportunity to walk some fast times. It has been known as a fast course but unfortunately in April, Eugene comes with some fall like weather. The cool temperatures didnt seem to bother the men as all of our men walked great times. Trevor had some good company with some top Colombian and Ecuadorian's in the race. They pushed him to first first A standard with a time of 1:22:13, a PR by over a minute. Coach Tim was next in a best time in 5 years of 1:25:58 making yet another USA team. Next for the TEAM was rookie Nick Christie walking a superb time of 1:31:33, a new PR by around 3 minutes. Our lone junior boy was Michael Nemeth walking to make his first National team in a time of 46:35. On the women's side, Maria came back after her indoor win to win again in a time of 1:35:57 over a fast closing Erin Gray who finished only 11 seconds behind. Next was Lauren Forgues in her first 20k of the season in a time of 1:39:13. Having a tough day was Miranda finishing in 6th, just missing the World Cup team. She finished in a disappointing 1:42:10. Lone junior girl was Molly who finished 3rd in a new PR of 54:56 but missed out on the team for Russia by not hitting the time standard. The TEAM had 9 representatives going to Russia to compete at the IAAF World Racewalk Cup including the two Canadians in Rachel and Bruno.

Three weeks later after a few TEAM members headed to Europe to get some training and racing in before the World Cup. Rachel, Miranda and Lauren headed to Naumburg, Germany to race at the German National Championships to try and set of PRs. In great racing conditions, Rachel headed out with the goal of walking the Olympic A standard and she did just that finishing in a time of 1:33:05 to set another Canadian Record and the Olympic A standard by 25 seconds. She is the first TEAM member to solidify her spot for the Olympics. Next up was Lauren finishing in a season's best time of 1:38:04. Even though she was hoping for more, it was a strong effort with much more to come this season. Miranda had a tough day and decided to stop at 15km's and save it for another race.

Three weeks later, it was finally the first major competition of the season, the IAAF World Racewalk Cup. The weather made it tough for another to set any PRs but the TEAM was looking to push for as high of a finish as they could. First up was Michael Nemeth at his first international event. He raced smart and finished in 49th place with a time of 46:48. Next were the men and even though it was a 6pm race, weather was still pretty warm. Trevor headed off the TEAM with a 40th place finish in a time of 1:24:54 for his first race as a senior at the World Cup. The other men were not so fortunate. Coach Tim was unfortunately DQ'd after 12km's into the race. Nick and Bruno really struggled at their first major international event finishing in 101st and 102nd respectively. It was a big struggle but they finished the race honorably. For the women, Rachel was the top finisher for the TEAM finishing in 46th place with a time of 1:38:44 for her best finish ever at an international competition. Not too far behind was Miranda (she took Maria's place on the USA team after Maria had to stay home to nurse an injury), who finished in 49th place with a time of 1:39:14. Struggling in the hottest temperatures of the weekend was Lauren who finished in 72nd place with a time of 1:44:31. It was a great experience for everyone and everyone had a lot of fun! We look forward to the next IAAF World Racewalk Cup in China in 2014.

After returning from Russia, some of the TEAM members headed to Riverside to support the USA 15km RW National Championship. Everyone was very tired from the trip still so it was a struggle to say the least. The most positive result from the race was that Coach Tim won his 44th National Championship, his first in 2 years. Miranda also won her first ever National Championship and Rachel was first overall. Nick was also in the race coming 2nd to Tim in the National Championship, his first National medal. Rookie racewalker Mike Gorney competed in his first racewalk race ever racing 5km's. He finished in a time of 26:XX.

On Saturday, the San Diego TEAM members competed in their last race before the USA Olympic Trials in 3 weeks which was held at the USA Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. Coach Tim, Nick and Tyler all competed in the 10km's looking for some fast times. Coach Tim walked the fastest time in the USA since 2004 winning the race in 41:18. Nick and Tyler started off together but Nick pushed off the second half to finish in a 2 minute PR of 43:37 with Tyler coming in not too far off of him in a time of 44:11. Tyler achieved the World Junior qualifying time after being plagued with some injuries this season. The women competed over 5km's looking for some big PRs. Miranda and Lauren pushed eachother to try and break 23 minutes for the first time. They smashed that barrier walking 22:42 and 22:49 respectively. After a heavy week of training, Katie Burnett walked a bit off of her PR but she fought to walk 24:23. Nicolette was back to racing after a little break and she finished the 5k in 27:47. The lone male in the 5k was Mike Gorney, walking away with almost a 2 minute PR of 24:54!
SO now that we are all up to date, here is what is coming up next! This coming weekend, June 17th, we have Tyler, Michael, Molly and Nicolette all competing at the USA Junior Track and Field Championships in Indiana. They will all be trying to qualify for a USA team for either the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain or the USA vs. Canada Dual Meet in Toronto, Canada.
For the seniors, they all have the Olympic trials coming up in 3 weeks. For the American's they will be racing in Eugene, Oregon on the track and will be looking to earn a spot on the Olympic team. In the men's race we have Coach Tim, Trevor, Nick and Tyler and on the women's side we have Maria, Lauren, Miranda, Katie and Little Rachel. In Calgary, Canada on the same weekend we have Rachel and Bruno competing at the Canadian Olympic Trials. Rachel will be looking to win her 6th title in a row to confirm her spot on the Olympic team.
Ok, thanks for reading!
Stay tuned!

The athletes were shooting for USA Olympic Trials standards, World Racewalk Cup standards and Olympic Standards. They couldnt have asked for better weather as it was a cool morning with no wind.

For the men we had Coach Tim, Nick and Bruno all shooting for different goals. Coach Tim was looking to get a good season opener before heading to the USA World Racewalk Cup Trials in a few weeks. He had no one to walk with so it ended up being a good tempo effort for him. He looked good and finished in 1:29:25 to easily win the race. Next was Nick who's plan was to try and help Rachel walk under the Olympic A standard which would then achieve him the Olympic Trials standard which is 1:36:00. In only his second 20km race ever, Nick showed that he had been working hard. Walking together through 10k, Rachel slowed down a bit and decided to drop out at 15km's. Nick was then on his own and cruised to finish 2nd in a time of 1:34:50, an Olympic Trials qualifier and a PR by 5 minutes. Bruno's plan was the same as Nick's but unfortunately he started to have hamstring problems and was forced to drop out at 17km's.

All of the girls came into the race with high hopes. This was Rachel's first chance to go for the Olympic A standard and with training going so well, she was excited for the opportunity. She went out on pace and felt good through 10km's but around 12k's she started feeling really tight and fell off the pace and decided to stop after 15km's. Maria's goal was to walk the first 10km's with Rachel and the boys but shortly after 5km's she succumbed to the pace and went through 10km's around 47:29. This however was a great time for her after coming off an injury throughout the winter and now makes her comeback. The big goal for Miranda was to walk under the Olympic B standard without giving too much of an effort since World Racewalk Cup Trials were 3 weeks away. She got into a great group with Erin Gray, Joanne Dow and Lauren and they all helped eachother get under the 1:38:00 mark. Looking smooth, Miranda finished in a time of 1:37:08, a PR by almost a minute and a super season opener. This bodes very well for her for the rest of the season! Lauren had planned on just walking 10km's to help Miranda and she managed to walk a 10km PR in the process, walking 48:35.

In the next pack of girls we had Little Rachel and Janelle. Both girls had the goal of getting under the Olympic Trials standard of 1:48:00. They had planned on walking together and they were off to a great start when Janelle couldnt hold the pace and Rachel had to kept plugging away on her own. Little Rachel managed to walk a huge PR and get under the elusive Olympic Trials standard walking a time of 1:47:45, a PR by around 7 minutes! Even though Janelle was off the standard, she managed to finish her first 20km race ever and walked a 1:53:37.
Next up for the TEAM is the USA World Racewalk Cup trials on April 1st in Eugene, Oregon. Top 5 Senior men and women and top 3 Junior boys and girls will get the chance to represent the USA in Russia. The TEAM already has Rachel and Bruno selected to represent Canada and have high hopes that many more of their TEAMmates will join them.
Stay tuned!

Representing the TEAM were Coach Tim, Trevor, Nick, Maria, Lauren, Miranda and Janelle.
First up were the men and there was to be a new champion crowned since returning champion, Patrick Stroupe, did not participate this year. We knew that Trevor would be the top contender since he has been training at altitude in Colorado Springs since September and he would be much more prepared than the others who were coming from sea-level to the 4000 feet town. Right from the gun Trevor took the lead and pushed on from there, leaving everyone in his dust. He won the race in a strong 12:36, almost besting the previous meet record by a minute. Behind Trevor was the race for second and third between Coach Tim and John Nunn. It was almost another re-match after the USA 50km RW Olympic trials a month earlier. After fighting for a good half of the race, Coach Tim prevailed over John this time and was able to snag second place a good 10 seconds clear of John. His final time was 12:01. In his first appearance at a USA National Championship was Nick. Nick raced really smart and went out with some of the other men that had season's best close to his. He stayed with them for the first half and then took off pushing right till the end. He came very close to a new PR which he would have crushed had the race been at sea level. Nick finished in 4th place in a time of 12:35.

For the women, Maria was hoping to come back and win her third Indoor title in Albuquerque. Maria took the lead from the gun hoping to make the other women work if they wanted to try and beat her. She had Erin Gray and Lauren on her heals the whole way. They were off to a fast start going through their first kilometer in under 13 minute pace. The pace slowed a bit in the middle and then in the last kilometer Maria started to push again in hopes of losing the other girls. With one lap to go all three women were still together and it became a sprint to the finish. Maria and Erin broke away from Lauren and then it came down to the final stretch where Maria only slightly edged out Erin for the win. This was the closest and one of the most excited races of the Championship. Maria won in a time of 13:15.31 over Erin's 13:15.35. This was a new PR for Maria by 20 seconds! Coming in a very strong 3rd place was Lauren who fought the whole way. She finished in 13:21, a new PR by 18 seconds. Having an off day was Miranda but despite that she finished 4th in a time of 13:46. In 7th place to round out the TEAM was Janelle who finished in a time of 14:48 to finish up her indoor season.

It was her first time wearing their jersey and she dominated the race.

Lauren took the lead right from the beginning she went out in a good 51 second first lap with Katie Burnett right behind her. She kept her pace consistent and after a few laps, Katie couldnt keep up and she fell off the pace. Lauren kept the same pace every lap, staying extremely consistent. She went through the 1km in 4:15 and she kept increasing her gap and there was no question, she had the title in the bag. The only question was in how fast? Lauren kept up her 50-51 second laps and finished in a super strong 6:48.57, a 22 second PR!!!! Fastest time by an American in years.

Here is the video of the race:

This race bodes super well for Lauren as she has only 2 weeks until the USA Indoor T&F Championships.

As a side note, Trevor Barron walked 11:50 for 3,000m's at the Air Force Academy just outside of Colorado Springs at 7300 feet. Very strong performance for him leading up to USA Indoor T&F Championships where he will be looking to win his first indoor title.

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-41870594633999247382012-02-09T21:36:00.000-08:002012-02-09T21:50:46.106-08:00Indoor Season Underway<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 239px; height: 152px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizyRKFT9dQtAfYxdXK-OFKP-o3ttV6d1dZj-CxhPUVzGGC8_WaBpvUcE9YVIgSp60ulgtdKPDIKpE7ZDIKDphJJeOgdr5oxR3vWOcsp3FFg5no-f0_5Ubd6-UIuUJCCtd02gtFgMW9JLQ/s320/millrosegames_2012.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707379517165876674" />Many of the TEAM members on the east coast have been participating in indoor races either trying to qualify for USA Indoor Nationals or simply try and improve on their PRs. No one had an Olympic standard going into the event and so whoever crossed the finish line first, with a standard would automatically earn an Olympic birth.

Jeff Salvage chronicles the race perfectly on his website Racewalk.com. You can read his moment by moment description here and it also has amazing pictures. Thanks Jeff!

To sum it up, the race started with 5 men in the lead pack and they stayed together for most of 30km's before the pace became too much for 3 of the men and then there was only 2 to fight the rest of the race, John Nunn and our very own Tim Seaman. This is where the real race began. First John put in a big surge and put in a good 45 second gap on Tim. Once Tim noticed that John wasnt putting anymore distance on him, he decided to try and close the gap and he did very quickly. Before we knew it, they were back together and the fight was on. Tim then put in a big of a surge but it ended up being too early. John caught back up with Tim and with a lap and a half to go, John took off and Tim couldnt respond. John went on to cross the finish line first in a very impressive 4:04:38, an Olympic B standard. Tim came in not long behind him in a very strong 4:05:50, only 15 seconds off of his PR from 14 years ago. What a comeback race for Tim! This was one of his strongest races ever.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZB1HZINdHNkXRA1QNTNSKODABsyatm1EyDyG6IZKQNSDxmvvNhDqnsfATF-NUXWfJflWGsEMhPY6T08fhA2IiJA0uto1wZkAY48vqzVxTHFG8WmNcTjk84uuotO0wBthg20ofkV-z9pU/s320/TimAwardsOT.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707370598163269618" />
Tim was such a huge inspiration for his Cuyamaca College student athletes and his fellow Champions International TEAMates that came out to support him. They cheered him all the way through the race, pushing him as hard as they could. They wanted it so badly for him that at the end of the race, young men in the group were crying with him. It was very emotional. They were all so proud of him! It was a great lesson for everyone to witness to never give up on your dreams as Tim truly fought till the very end.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMBaR2WRl2-1wqizSVlMu7zbllWeTIWEImD16JtqVV5OrR1YoXzj8Y9fCjkW3U3LUlQS9Nwl7_V3l8ZZDCoadMAqZgYnyrSb1rPKHkKCc3xjdXNBuIFyCRUt4ozk-BNtrcam9v85wAOp0/s320/TEAMatOT.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707370456904506306" />

Here are some other stories from after the race:

Imperial Beach Patch

Union Tribune

Competitor Group- Highlight Video

We are all so proud of Tim and look forward to watching the rest of his races this season. With a major snow storm hitting New York and surrounding States the day before the race, we knew it was going to make for tough conditions on race day. With the temperature hovering around freezing overnight, all the snow that had started melting was frozen by morning. The race was originally set for 9am but had to be postponed to 10:20am so that the race course could be cleared off. It was a beautiful morning for spectators despite the cold but the weather was unsettling for most of the competitors with over a dozen from South America. Our TEAM stayed positive and were hoping for the best.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 289px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq3utYBIj8aBEueF-TOZhXmZctk8Ibp0-qDq6VH_Unioh1Jsp0Bm_RvTEI8q4RQcD_BPQAVyk7dLiQECu-N6QlHQPgZgrNo3aYz6imCpPBf8mU-hfVVFaq86dscTbVoJ2PR4hPHmkTEoU/s320/NickBrunoNY.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5672875791600297218" />Nick, Bruno and Katie had the most successful day for the TEAM, all achieving PRs. It was Nick and Bruno's first try at the 20km distance and they were excited to work together to try and get the best effort out of themselves. They pushed the pace together and were on a strong pace through 15km's where Nick started to struggle with the pace and he dropped off but Bruno kept pushing and kept getting faster. Bruno finished with a stellar 1:35:37, bettering his previous 10km PR on the way. Nick also finished strong despite struggling in the final kilometers, finishing in a time of 1:39:05. This was his first time racing longer than 5km's! Katie who held on to Coach Tim and other walkers for most of the race, looked great! An error on the DQ board forced Katie to slow down around 15km's and we didnt notice till a lap to go that there was a mistake. If it wasnt for that mistake, she would have had an even bigger PR but had to settle with a great 30 second PR! Great performance for this time of year.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiykMj_yCBrHPKE0WuTxfHzzRGrfXKr4p2ljb1Fwu5t6lNfVl3Dq55E0mWxUnVWB6_ZkXEfMvf8Ng9GF-OM4AeROMfYQFFKWzt53CUV3voe6xjmefbhN0LoPKd3JYrKGDlVqvg9JxH4pD8/s320/TimNY.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5672875729576216194" />Coach Tim was having a great day despite the cold weather. He was staying patient in the early kilometers with a great group of competitors around him all going after the same pace. Early on he started to feel some tightness in his back and it kept getting worst as the race went on. Despite still being on the Olympic B standard pace, Tim decided to drop out at 38km's to not risk injury. This race showed great promise with his progress towards the Olympic 50km RW Trials in January.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdycIodyWUBECzkFd2zYrWpv72yHalyE74B26ykw1EDHEGTxDFBKCytz1nfc91i3Y7S3dkJmKWJVOK8k4CvlW5AnFD9WdbFt9RSAWeWYHDWjKZSNkSbqAJ1LNrXkLBym_3lSvVrYsMu3Y/s320/LittleRachelNY2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5672875663681052242" />"Little" Rachel was having a great day and was on pace for a nice PR before officials told her she was done the race when she really had one more lap to go. This was very disappointing for Rachel Z. since she would have had a PR by a few minutes but at least she knows that her training is going well and that the next time she has a chance to do a 20km race that she will take even more time off her PR.

Now the TEAM wont be racing for awhile but will be getting into some good training with some base work. After training in Colorado Springs for 2 weeks, the girls were ready to tackle the race at the altitude.

The startlist showed that it was going to be a stiff competition with 6 girls with seasons bests of 1:33 and under. Maria and Lauren were excited to take on the challenge and see how high they could place.

When the gun went off the two Guatemalan girls shot right into the lead and set a blistering pace of 8:46 for the first 2km lap. Maria and Lauren were smart and started off conservatively so that they wouldnt get carried away by the group. As the race progressed, several girls continued to push the pace and Maria kept watching her pace and hoped that she could pick off some of the girls that couldnt handle the pace. Maria ended up holding her place throughout the race and finished in a strong 9th place out of 17 starters in a time of 1:38:47. A great time for her first time racing 20km's at altitude.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDI7oQ1iV3hBc1yVYAW56ly7AFXbigkokSog32YQjANyVdfw15sBeiwvqVFw77DxhCh7ezzhQeAktZy7O2-QdL4-SoFgxoGcAsntjZ2Q5V3aCDxOEEpBYnZWSYA6yvRekNiyKZlSELjlY/s320/LaurenPanAmGames.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5667209866007882482" />The race went a little differently for Lauren. She was struggling with some knee pain fairly early in the race and after getting several cautions for bent knee, she decided to drop out of the race at 12km's as a precaution so that she wouldnt injure her knee. This was a very smart decision as the Olympic year is almost upon us and she needs to make sure that she is injury free heading into this all important year.

You can view their post race comments on USATF's website here.

Also, a post race interview with Maria on the USOC's website here.

Up next for the TEAM is the USA 30km RW Championships this Sunday in Congers, NY. Miranda is from Rochester, New York but has lived in Kenosha, Wisconsin for the last 4 years where she attended the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Miranda was a USA Junior National Champion and competed on several Junior USA teams before moving up to the Senior ranks. Since Miranda has become a 20km walker she has excelled. This year at the USA Track and Field Championships she finished 4th place, her highest finish at the Senior Championships in a huge PR of 1:38:01. An agonizing ONE second off of the Olympic B standard.

Miranda has made the move to San Diego to train with TEAMmates Rachel, Lauren and Coach Tim. She is extremely talented and we know that she will make huge jumps this year as she works towards her goal of making the 2012 Olympic Team. We wish her all the best!

Up next for the team is the Pan American Games this weekend in Guadalajara, Mexico where Maria and Lauren will be representing the USA against the western hemisphere! She was eager to take revenge on her poor performance at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea three weeks earlier.

She walked the whole race alone and got a little too eager at the beginning of the race and it resulted in her first 10km's of the race being too fast in 46:11. She was still feeling good through 15km's and then she started to hit the wall a bit. She calculated what she thought she had to walk the last 5km's in in order to walk the Olympic A standard of 1:33:30 but unfortunately she calculated wrong and with a KM to go in the race, she knew it was going to be close. She gave it all she had but she came up short with 3 seconds off the standard, walking a time of 1:33:33. This was still a 10 second PR and a new Canadian Record, her 3rd time breaking the record this year. She also managed to come 3rd in the race behind two women who are ranked in the top 15 in the world.

She was very happy with the performance and it was a great way for her to end the season. Now she will take time off and then get ready for the Olympic year.

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-79554716571514218922011-10-09T21:15:00.000-07:002011-10-09T21:55:14.512-07:00Difficult Days in Daegu<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjEbAsiabERsln14R2udBcpXdeORq8dKfgBrhX510NVDVN3XO6wMuj-9DXMr7ttQHJtc2aXcTK6lwfdJ7Y09BRFOKXtcUlA3wGSI697MJCLqumzZ0xRBHfzLUW4sINTMz-pnJUiL0vZz8/s320/051.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661713161244503314" />At the end of August the IAAF World Track and Field Championships took place in Daegu, South Korea. Three TEAM members achieved the qualifying times to compete, Trevor and Maria for the USA and Rachel for Canada. All three were excited to have a good showing towards the end of the season and see how they could fair against the worlds best.

First up was Trevor in the men's 20km on August 28th. Trevor was the youngest in the field and was going to be going up against of a lot of his heroes. In his last year as a Junior, Trevor is one of the best not only for his age but overall in the Western Hemisphere. The gun went off on the hot and humid day and Trevor stayed at the back of the very big pack and tried to settle in there. Once the pace picked up a bit Trevor was trying to hang on as long as he could. Eventually the pace was too much and Trevor found his own groove. He finished in 23rd place in a time of 1:24:33. He did a fantastic job at his first International senior event.

Next up was Maria and Rachel on August 31st. On a day that was even more hot and humid than it was for the men a few days earlier, the girls were ready and excited to fight against their competitors. For Maria, she started off very conservative staying behind the big pack. She slowly tried to move her way up during the race and she raced very smart. In the end she finished with a respectable time of 1:38:54 for 30th place. For Rachel, it was a much different story. She was having breathing problems a few days before the race but was still hoping for the race. She started off the race at the back of the pack and was going a pace that should not have been very difficult for her but the problems she was having before the race were not gone and she struggled more and more from 8km's and after. She finished the race in a very disappointing 37th place with a time of 1:43:31 and collapsed at the finish.

They all had such a great time and experience in Daegu and learnt a lot for next years Olympics in London. Less than a year to go!

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-75217244588189158072011-10-09T20:18:00.000-07:002011-10-09T21:15:13.704-07:00USA beats Canada at Dual Meet<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWIsPkFD1WY6ZhW3SU1scZZPqoymn8M25MoLjyWqxWLPeWNTK4F8xc8ZDsf11V-NjRQE0vue3dAyII17QuzqhHi4QOTpN-nJUWNyEkJKnHarVowauMeOENmAmBBxMw_-AcuTJYWLMertU/s320/Dual2011.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661701791795358658" />

On August 14th in Boston, Mass. four TEAM members raced during the Canada vs. USA Dual Meet. Molly struggled in the tough conditions but still put together a good showing for the USA team finishing 7th overall in a time of 28:37 for 5k.

In the open women's 10km race Maria was doing a tune up for the upcoming World Championships in Korea and Lauren was testing out her fitness. Both girls started out a bit ambitious for the weather but after a few km's settled into a good pace. With the tough weather both girls, just like everyone else, walked a bit lower than they hoped but they toughed it out and finished in 48:49 and 50:14 respectively.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhp9yVA6hto0Vfvlw-9xotUNresvo9bH4cLt0WC31NZjeeqYhBvVNhsVQZn1fxGI4lNwaM4tS9w_8BRgr9Yx7kzE9yGXNF_jGkCL7OBmJ-0GVX2L6bUghv_3Za9VSP50BEFnrfwCAscglg/s320/BrunoDual.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661701591906770530" />
For the men, the sole male on the team competing was Bruno with the Canadian jersey. After taking a break after the Canadian Championships at the end of June, he was just happy to be back racing. He had been training well and was ready to give all he could. Bruno started the race off smart and with the tough conditions and worked his way up in the rankings. He finished a very strong 2nd place with a time of 49:30 for 10k.

Up next for the team is the World Track and Field Championships in Daegu, South Korea where TEAM members Trevor, Maria and Rachel will compete in the end of August.

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-68923869201830568402011-08-05T18:32:00.000-07:002011-08-05T19:08:50.379-07:00Trevor Wins SILVER at Pan Am Jrs!!!!<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 281px; height: 239px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeCxcCHyJBICPnmpXOchFqX49_Vci33GCd2kH8j6mTxVgiQctFK0JfhMjgdDIA79CEb4FHRKYeF-ZrRC1LymkZMQO8oHExz4uC2e-OYfAV2-D0QpIE28qUnlFejzPbrqEXuaqn3rvTzz0/s320/PanAmJrs.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5637557111362171602" />On July 24th in Miramar, Florida, Trevor and Tyler toed the line against the best boys in the western hemisphere. After many attempts, the boys were going after their first international medal. It would not be an easy task as the 2010 World Racewalk Cup champion, Eider Arevalo from Colombia was also in the race.

The gun went off and Trevor and Tyler started off in the group going through the first km in a very conservative 4:18. After 6km's Trevor started to push and dropped everyone in the group except for Eider. Trevor knew going into the race that he had to try and push the pace early because Eider has a strong kick. Trevor dropped a few 4:00 km's and Eider was still there. It came down to the final 250m's when Eider put down a final sprint and Trevor could not respond. Trevor finished the race giving all he could as he weaved off the track. Even though he didnt win, he finally won a medal at an international competition, finishing off his Junior career on a high.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJsrNFud1sGdsqXvTlIBgum8aCmRXcKb-cEMlNNeabS7UQJBH-VBO1IzzHguIguGhdj0bzwZqBZgT_jdZkIyk-lk7qCaGzyKJ7ec_MJINhj_ZDj5QCGKUVeEuWO_1ElCQzz4s1WQ79_y0/s320/TrevorPodium.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5637557406763291714" />Tyler dropped off the group early, suffering from the heat and humidity which he is definitely not used to in his hometown of San Diego. He was coming off of a very strong performance at the USA Championships where he PR'd by 10 seconds in a solo performance. Today he was gunning for his TEAMmate, Trevor's, American record of 41:50.

Tyler started off very smart in around 27th place out of 32 walkers. As the race progressed he slowly worked his way up and then found himself in the top 10. He continued to fight as more competitors faded off of the fast pace. Tyler went through 5,000m's in a fast 20:55 which is the fastest first 5km's for Tyler. He continued to fight and he was able to negative split his second 5,000m's in a time of 20:28 to finish in a blistering time of 41:23.14, good enough for 5th place and to break Trevor's US record.

To put Tyler's amazing performance into perspective, his time would have won EVERY other previous World Youth Championship and broke the previous meet record by 12 seconds. Unfortunately, his year was the best ever and he was left without a medal. Nevertheless, we are thrilled with his performance and couldnt have asked for anything better. Tyler finished with a minute and 21 second PR, WOW!!! Just amazing!

Next up for the TEAM is Trevor and Tyler competing at the Pan Am Junior Championships in Miramar, Florida on July 24th.

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-66454237858158201442011-07-14T20:23:00.000-07:002011-07-21T16:23:50.498-07:00Seniors Smash PRs at USA Championships
On June 27th in Eugene, Oregon, six TEAM members competed in the 20km racewalk at the USA Track and Field Championships.

First up we had the men and in this race we had Coach Tim, Trevor and Chris. Trevor had decided to forgo his last Junior Nationals race to race for a spot on the World Championship team instead. Trevors plan was to go for the World Championship 'B' standard of 1:24:00 and hope that he would be able to win in the process. Trevor started off with John Nunn and Patrcik Stroupe and after a few kilometers went off by himself and the only thing that slowed him down were a few red cards. Because of those red cards, Trevor had to be very cautious and didnt push all the way to make sure that he didnt get disqualified. Trevor still managed to win the race in a time of 1:23:25.10 which was under the 'B' standard for the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea in August. On the way to his title he managed to break Junior records every 5km's along the way, breaking the 5km, 10km, 15km and 20km Junior Road Records, wow!!!

Coach Tim raced steady keeping his place right from the gun. In typical Coach Tim style these days, he was more concerned about how his athletes were doing than racing himself. Since he couldnt challenge for 3rd and 5th was distant from him, he kept his 4th place from the beginning to the end and finished in a time of 1:31:28.32. Chris started off very well and looked strong but with a few kilometers to go you could see that Chris was having some problems, similar to the health problems he had been having the few months leading up to the race. He ended up being disqualified because he was wavering and as soon as he was shown the red paddle, he collapsed. Luckily after some help from some paramedics, Chris was fine.

Only 3 minutes later the women's race was off. We had Maria as defending champion, Lauren and Katie for the TEAM. Maria's plan was to go with Teresa Vail and fight till the end for the spot on the World Championship team. Maria did just that as the pair went out in a blazing pace clipping off kilometers in the 4:30's for the first 5km's. The pace started to slow and both women started to fade but it became a race of who would fade the least. Fortunately, Maria won that battle and smashed her PR and won another National title in a time of 1:34:51.47 and earned her spot on the World Championship team.

Fighting for another medal was Lauren as she finished 3rd last year. She started off the race very smart hanging with a few girls before she decided to pick up the pace after a few kilometers. Lauren walked the rest of the race alone, pushing the whole way and the hard work paid off finishing in a huge PR of 1:37:40.86, an Olympic 'B' standard and another 3rd place finish! Finishing up for the TEAM was Katie and she didnt disappoint. Katie has come a long way in a year and she walked practically the whole race alone and she looked strong. She finished in 5th with a huge PR of 1:41:10.49, 10 minutes faster than last year!

The TEAM finished a very successful weekend earning 7 medals between the USA and Canadian National Championships! Congratulations everyone! Up next for the TEAM is Tyler competing at the World Youth Championships in Lille, France.

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-73018592181933834802011-07-14T19:47:00.000-07:002011-07-14T20:12:51.999-07:00Rachel Wins 5th Canadian Title<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5ZYkcScC6hyphenhyphenWme0l9foP112JNv2VPSWb1OlEz4WBVxZojwsgvd-6UqOeVk1V1ETtPMFXFyul1B0RUSK6eDIcX-md64lzq_N8GnLrjLSwVGH1y69hpQ2UM2wlarhKxsAsaiI4BY09eQIE/s320/089.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629408829349317810" />On June 26th in Calgary, Alberta Canada, both Bruno and Rachel were set to try and defend their Canadian titles. They were placed with some pretty difficult hurdles as the race was at 3700 feet of altitude and the course was very uphill, definitely not built for fast times. Still, they were up for the challenge.

Up first were the Seniors and Rachel was looking to add a 5th title to her collection. He was up for the challenge but unfortunately he came down with a cold the day before the race and it took over his body and he just couldnt put together a good performance. He still managed to finish 2nd in just over 52 minutes. He still, however, managed to secure a spot on the Canadian team which will compete in Boston, MA in August at the USA vs. Canada Dual meet.

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-66446499062556584812011-07-14T14:35:00.000-07:002011-07-21T16:24:06.326-07:00Juniors Impress at USA ChampionshipsOn June 26th in Eugene, Oregon, we had three Junior TEAM members competing in the Junior 10,000m USA Championships. All were hoping for some PRs and hoping that those PRs would bring them a medal too.

First up were the boys and our lone competitor was Tyler. With Trevor deciding to concentrate on the Senior 20km race, Tyler was his own competition. Being leaps ahead of the other competitors, Tyler's goal was to stay clean with the judges and get a good tune up race in before the World Youth Championships a few weeks later.

Tyler took command of the race right from the gun and never looked back. Tyler was feeling so good that in the second half he was started to pick up the pace but Coach Tim told him to slow it down and save it for World Youths. Tyler made sure to go fast enough to break the meet record and he did just that. He won in a time of 42:44.03 and stamped his ticket to World Youths and the Pan Am Junior Championships both in July.

Next were the girls where we had returning champion, Nicolette, and Molly. Both walked really strong races and managed to walk PRs to place 3rd and 5th respectively. Nicolette walked a time of 53:34.08 and Molly smashed her PR from Albany in a time of 55:44.37, just fantastic! Both have now qualified to represent the USA at the USA vs. Canada Dual Meet that will be held in Boston, MA in August.

The Juniors set up Nationals for the TEAM very well for Seniors the day after with 2 medals already and hopefully more to come.

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-66404898338734283722011-07-14T14:02:00.000-07:002011-07-14T14:34:17.470-07:00Molly Represents at USA 10km Champs<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTrgXXOxpYUCwcHMI6wOOSovChKxC0x3PnGPNob0M33tJJE0QrZ2Rvr4-hQ4ZCKR5F9Z1BlrFg4qdZpCGFqaUH3y-8-czaNBqdSyVsajl6GxHUQLz5jMlB88UwgJBY890M28aF0IQBD6A/s320/Molly10k.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629323389040491810" />

On June 4th in Albany, New York, Molly was the sole representative for the TEAM at the USA 10km Racewalk Championships. Coming off of very strong indoor seasons where all three of them medalled, Katie, Janelle and Chris were excited to see how they could do.

First up was the women's race. Both girls were going into the race with very different stories. Katie was in the best shape of her life and was coming off of a strong 20km PR a few months earlier and Janelle unfortunately had to get knee surgery following a tear in her meniscus after the indoor season.

Katie started off the race with the leaders and was going strong until the last few laps when the other two girls had an extra gear and Katie simply couldnt respond. Katie finished in a very impressive 3rd place in a big PR, walking 23:51.83. Katie may have come 3rd but she was the 1st American as 1st place was from Canada and 2nd place was from Hong Kong. Janelle unfortunately was having a lot of pain during the race and was forced to drop out.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCG1dW5S00zxsyt2PlD17ZfX8dkqvdCD7nF1Y1obgXInYxPANEiuZ-yfTplV7nJ02ygWqifPdY3PWDSAKhwxeVlvLRZ662mrYPEQKnoOvUeiJC-0r1DtCGdgsDiflGvFAJZkl2jlQCEqg/s320/KatieNAIAoutdoor.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629309631855895090" />Chris came into this race with a lot of unknowns. His training had been up and down since the Indoor Championships. He had a good performance over 20km's in March and from then on it was very inconsistent. Luckily the day of the race was an up day and did he ever surprise a lot of people. Chris had the same race plan as he did indoors. He focused on his own race and slowly kept moving his way up. He kept getting faster and passing everyone infront of him. He managed to catch everyone except for Canadian Evan Dunfee who broke the meet record. Chris finished in 2nd place in a huge PR of 20:42.02.

All three of our NAIA TEAM members had very impressive seasons and we look forward to more in the rest of the season.

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-47170470954422860002011-05-19T21:36:00.000-07:002011-05-19T22:15:49.503-07:002 X USA National Champions<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8b1WlpPPmi-qbfoo0RnwWuJRBr-W9cxk8xSEEun2cT1AzwFJZtN2_hRIj1bot7fiOM1QU2XYyGrh-FiyiQDwH2_3LgqljhCHodlnOgENcAjBlbRhZ9ly0zA1KPlqTWi122JDO3hUZnMI/s320/TrevorTim15k.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5608653365728688162" />On Sunday, May 15th in Riverside, CA, four TEAM members competed in the USA 15km RW Championships. This is an odd distance for them to race since they usually compete over 20km's but it was a good indicator as to what kind of fitness they are in leading up to the National Championships in just over a month.

In the men's race we had returning 15km Champion, Coach Tim, and his Junior prodigy, Trevor. They started the race off together for 2 laps until Trevor took off and pounded the laps and finished in a great time of 1:03:37 which is a new USA Junior Record by 8.5 minutes, incredible. Coach Tim struggled through the rest of the race with some knee pain that he has been having for a few months now. He still finished 2nd in a time of 1:09:15. Trevor took his 2nd USA National Title.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8fH6BYt2MQJJj6x87p5v3A286qfcYn8lVV6TW8El8BPeFQES85Zfy82ToANRm5yMEK9KEoi4zoaesgq55ieILUWtNRawkkGGsRA5AHEEtestPqp6upRvX7XtydcQMK9C22erUXsKdb6M/s320/RachelLauren15k.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5608653030754036834" />On the women's side we had Rachel and Lauren. The plan was for Rachel to pace Lauren through a sub-1:15:00 15km. They started off on a good pace and continued to get stronger. In the last 5km's Lauren started to fade a bit but still finished up in a great time of 1:14:15, a huge PR. Rachel stayed with Lauren throughout the whole race until the last lap when she took off and finished in a time of 1:14:02 to finish slightly ahead. This was Lauren's first USA National Championships title. Big things to come for her in Eugene at the USA Track and Field Championships in a month. You can listen to an interview from Racewalk Planet Radio on both girls here.

Next up for the TEAM is the NAIA Championships in a week. We have Chris, Katie and Janelle competing over 5000m's. All three are NAIA Indoor Championship medalists and they hope to get on the podium once again. Best of luck!

Stay tuned!

TEAM

(Photos Courtesy of Yvonne Grudzina-Glaser, Thanks!!!)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-68859291523150429812011-05-02T05:09:00.000-07:002011-05-02T05:33:37.647-07:00Many Personal Bests and a Record to Report<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBiF9UtDD5vVe6J4QJZ55QB_zCrn2d8Q8RmoTXrOANIDE83Gv30CPff3Ag1fv8LlEuzUuIEqjf_9YYz_yLs-2WO-HYugliSgxWlYzs_YnZXxRQECjzyraiS6XgvmcpXdxG3H08Hev89oA/s320/RachelHungary.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5602091123628374674" />
Sorry that I have been neglecting the blog! It is definitely time for a major update. Here is everything in chronological order.

Rachel started her racing in Europe in Podebrady, CZE with a disappointing race getting DQ'd just before 11km's in the lead. This was her first time ever being DQ'd. She then made a spur of the moment decision and went to Hungary with some people she just met so that she could compete in Bekescsaba at the Hungarian National Championships the following weekend, April 17th. She had a great week of training with new friends and was ready to race. She felt great and did a great job pacing herself, racing the whole thing alone. She finished in another huge 39 second PR of 1:33:43 and she won the race. This was another Canadian Record for her, her 2nd in a month. It was a nice way for her to comeback after the disappointment in Podebrady. You can read about her experiences in her blog here.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi53FkNjVbqsHF8jOrqhISwL0C0Hr5dGEQ-7l7P-x6L_XT_Be9lcTIkf_th6MLLsQtdNkHSV9V1YBG2xYqIiwZhiPlsyxLZllJXqnoiMZax6_tt_qfpWDBOnYpg3offZOUzu3vp5z-IbQo/s320/BrunoPenn.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5602090328655529314" /> Next up for the TEAM was Bruno, Katie and Molly at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, PA on April 30th. Bruno was the first to toe the line in the 10,000m race. Bruno has been training so well and was ready for a good race. He raced smart staying off the lead group and did his own race. He finally had a huge breakthrough race and walked over a minute and 30 second PR for a time of 47:57 to win the Junior division. Next up was Katie and Molly who were trying to follow in Bruno's footsteps to big PRs over 5,000m's. Katie followed Bruno in race plan and did her own thing. She walked a really strong race after being sick the days prior to the race and finished in 5th place in 24:34, a 15 second PR. Molly started off really strong trying to keep up with some of her fellow Junior competitors. She fought hard but struggled in the end to a 5th place finish in the Junior division in a time of 27:13. Great job done by all!

Yesterday in San Diego we had Coach Tim, Lauren, Tyler, Nicolette and Yandy competing in the San Diego Invite on the track at UCSD over 3 different distances held at the same time. Lauren made the trip back out west from Maine to try and get a qualifying time for Outdoor Nationals in the 20k. She had a very solid 10k in 50:09 after stomach problems had already set in and forced her to drop out of the race. This was a very strong start for Lauren who has had some time off after knee surgery in February. In the 10k was Coach Tim, Tyler and Nicolette. Coach Tim and Tyler were planning on walking together to try and pace Tyler to a qualifying time for this year's IAAF World Youth Championships in July. They walked together till 8k when Coach Tim took off and finished in a time of 44:12, good after a break in training due to knee pain. Tyler finished not long after in a time of 44:35 which should be good enough to qualify for Team USA. He has also struggled with some injuries over the last few months and so this is a great comeback race for him. His sister Nicolette jumped into the 10k after taking a break from racewalking to focus on running track and finished in a great 57:XX. Last but not least was Yandy who just focused on the 5k to qualify for Outdoor Nationals. He walked just over 23 minutes, good enough to beat the 23:30 qualifying standard.

Next up for the TEAM will be the USA 15km National Championships on May 15th in Riverside, California. We will have Coach Tim, Trevor, Tyler, Lauren and Rachel all competing.

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3355474196237996963.post-7463654175163498842011-04-05T12:48:00.000-07:002011-04-05T13:02:26.990-07:00HOT Day in Colombia<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 239px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxgD3LWFH73XNRoyP41aLN4IMTD5mjAWlVbKCR16DyBbpHZmKvD-aPRUPDdhSeJn0H1tKkVkM4Xuz5L6n9dj3r57SFQQwtf75MX18Y8ccXnUq9-EzuO3aBBAATF8E0x1uh5IX2YwMrbko/s320/boyspanamcup.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592189868002405474" /> On March 26th in Medellin, Colombia, the Pan American Racewalk Cup started its first day of competition. We had Trevor, Tyler and Nicolette competing on the USA team and they were very excited to be in Colombia. Trevor and Tyler however have had a rough month battling injuries. Before Trevor headed over to Colombia he started to have some pain in his knee but the trip was already booked and he hoped it would get better quickly so he could compete well at the race. This unfortunately did not happen. In the weeks that he was there, he was barely able to do any training and because of this did not have high hopes going into the race. He started and decided to try and help his friend, Colombian racewalker Jose Montana. He walked with him for the firs 5km's and felt some pain and therefore decided to drop out. Tyler also was having injury issues in the build up to the race but a week before going travelling to Colombia was able to start racewalking again. He managed to do a very solid race considering his lack of training for several weeks and finished 10th in a time of 46:25. This came after a very long and difficult travel to the Colombia as flights were cancelled and him and Nicolette did not arrive into Medellin until very late the night before the race.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 238px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5WMRow8TPxtOKZnUzK2UpID99WxgVM6F2vZy7LlPsKogiQOqvjhuPWtemH2oiMeuvew9aJO40Qq6IuZ49cZOSxzZR28TYwQJ_8dfsmCR6vT371idRGi3Z44-AH184ajlWu_JbcpQc3BQ/s320/NicolettePanAmCup.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592191897265421458" />Nicolette was competing in her first major International competition after getting a taste of it at the USA vs. Canada last summer. She had a very strong PR in February qualifying her for the USA team in Colombia. After the difficult travel, she also had a great race in the very hot conditions walking 59:18, good enough for 18th place.

Next up for the TEAM is Rachel competing this Saturday at a race in Podebrady, Czech Republic over 20km's.

Stay tuned!

TEAMAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15894455881559670040noreply@blogger.com0
