On Sunday, August 22nd, 2010, Tyler competed in Singapore at the first ever Youth Olympic Games in the 10,000m walk. In very tough hot and humid conditions, Tyler started off very conservatively to be cautious in the extreme weather. Even trying to be very careful, Tyler's heart rate skyrocketed to levels we hadn't ever seen from him in any race or training session all season, almost right from the beginning. By 4-5km's Tyler was forced to slow down due to the heat. Tyler fought hard to the finish and in the end it was worth it. He finished in 10th place in 47:07.77. He had a great experience at the very first Youth Olympic Games ever and is looking forward to one day hopefully competing at the Big Show! For now, Tyler will be taking some much deserved time off and will be starting the cross country season in a few weeks.
Stay tuned!
