PRs Smashed at Penn Relays
This past Saturday five of our TEAMmates competed at the Penn Relays. Tyler Sorensen started off the day for the TEAM competing in the men's 10,000m race. Tyler led right from the start with Dan Serianni on his heels for the first 6km's. Tyler broke away and finished really strong in just over a minute PR and he walked under the World Junior T&F Championship standard of 44:05 by walking 43:58. He will be the youngest racewalker that the US has ever sent to World Jrs. Tyler has a very exciting future ahead of him. First Tyler will compete at the World Racewalk Cup in Chihuahua, Mexico on May 15th.
The women were up next. Rachel Seaman, Maria Michta, Lauren Forgues and Molly Josephs all competed in the women's 5000m race. Rachel went into the lead right from the gun and may have pushed the pace too hard too soon. She was followed closely by Joanne Dow till a lap to go and Joanne went by Rachel and Rachel couldnt respond. Joanne took the win with Rachel in 2nd place in a new 18 second PR of 22:30. Maria followed next walking most of the race alone. She walked a very strong race finishing in a 40 second PR of 22:55 for 3rd place. Next was Lauren who also walked alone most of the race. She finished in a 45 second PR of 23:28 and finally the youngest TEAM member Molly who walked her 2nd fastest time with a 27:37 and 4th place amongst the juniors.
Stay tuned!
