One BIG post!

Im sorry that we have been a little slow with updated the blog but I swear after this BIG post, it will be updated more frequently again like it was. Here we go in order of events past.

May 15th in Chihuahua, Mexico: Trevor and Tyler lead the USA team to very strong finishes at the IAAF World Racewalk Cup finishing in 9th and 18th place. They had the highest finishes out of the whole USA contingent and made us all very proud.

May 28th in Marion, Indiana: Katie raced at the NAIA Collegiate Nationals where she was striving to better her 2nd place finish from the Indoor NAIA's this past winter. In very hot conditions, Katie battled to a 4th place finish. Although she was hoping to medal, Katie capped off a very successful first year with the TEAM and looking forward to even better results next year.

May 23rd in Maine: Lauren put on her own race in Maine to try and get in a good effort over 20km's before she headed to Nationals. She had her brother Matt helping her out the whole race and shocked everyone by walking a stunning 1:40:52, a 5 minute PR.

May 30th in Toronto, Canada: Rachel and Maria headed to Canada to race at the Art Keay Memorial Walk to race 20km's. The conditions were perfect and Maria raced to a very strong 1:38:20 setting a new PR by 3 minutes. Unfortunately, Rachel was unable to race after being in a car accident earlier that morning (no one was hurt, Rachel was just very shaken up). This race sets Maria up very well to fight for the USA title at Nationals coming up.

June 6th in San Diego, California: Lily racewalked the marathon at the San Diego Rock 'N' Roll Marathon. She finished super strong coming through the finish line in 4:57. Lily has had some great training and exceeded her goal of going under 5 hours. Great job!

June 13th in San Diego, California: Tim, Trevor, Rachel, Katie and Lily all raced at Cuyamaca College over 5000m's all with different goals. Trevor was attempting the US Junior Record, Katie was trying to get the qualifying time for Nationals and Tim, Rachel and Lily were just trying to walk a season/personal best. Three out of the five succeeded at their goals. Trevor broke his own US Junior Record by 44 seconds walking 20:06 and Katie beat the qualifying time by 23 seconds walking 25:37. Lily walked a very strong race after just racewalking a marathon 6 days earlier and finished the 5,000m in 29:13. Tim struggled to keep up with Trevor and dropped back with a few laps to go finishing in 20:45 and Rachel finished up in 22:45.

June 20th Long Island, New York: Molly walked a 1500m's as a part of the Empire State Games qualifying meet. She won the race in very hot conditions with a time of 7:28. Great warm up for her as Nationals is just a week away.

Up next: In a week we have 8 TEAM members competing at the USA National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Nicolette, Molly, Trevor and Tyler will all be competing in the junior 10,000m race on Saturday and Tim, Maria, Lauren and Katie will all be competing on Sunday over 20km's. Lets wish them all luck as we hope to bring lots of medals home from the meet.

Stay tuned!

Tyler will next be competing in Chihuahua, Mexico in just over a week at the IAAF World Racewalk Cup. The USA has a very strong Junior Men's team as fellow TEAMmate Trevor Barron will also be competing. We wish both of them luck!

Big Improvements by Yandy!

This past Sunday, TEAM member Yandy Nelson competed in a 5000m race in Florida. Yandy did incredibly well in his first 5000m race back after a long hiatus, especially since it was 90 degrees out! Yandy finished the race in 24:44.45. It was a very good start and we all know that he is capable of a lot more if he gets in a race with better weather conditions. Next Yandy will race in California at a 15km race where he will look to qualify for the USA Outdoor Nationals.

Stay tuned!
